Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu along the Trishuli River. The road passes through small towns, terraced farms, green hills, and riverside villages. As you leave the busy city behind, you gradually enter peaceful countryside landscapes. After 7–8 hours of driving, you reach Syabrubesi, a small town that serves as the gateway to Langtang and Ruby Valley regions. In the evening, you can explore the local market and prepare for the trek ahead.
After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Syabrubesi, the gateway to the Ruby Valley Trek. The road follows the Trishuli River and passes through lush hills, terraced fields, small villages, and local markets. Upon arrival in Syabrubesi, you can rest and prepare for the trekking days ahead. The village itself offers an authentic Himalayan foothill atmosphere.
The trek officially begins with a gradual ascent through dense pine and rhododendron forests. You will cross suspension bridges and pass several small Tamang settlements along the trail. Depending on the chosen route, you will reach either Gatlang village, a traditional Tamang settlement with stone houses and monasteries, or Parbati Kunda, known for its scenic alpine pastures and panoramic mountain views. The area offers an introduction to local rural life and breathtaking vistas.
The trail ascends further into alpine terrain, passing through rhododendron forests, open meadows, and streams. Somdang is a serene and historic village that was once known for mineral mining. The village provides a spectacular vantage point for Ganesh Himal and surrounding ranges. Evening time can be spent exploring the village, interacting with locals, and learning about traditional lifestyles.
A full day is reserved for hiking and acclimatization. Short excursions around Somdang allow trekkers to adjust to higher altitudes while enjoying panoramic mountain views, alpine meadows, and nearby ridges. You can photograph the snowcapped peaks, explore local trails, and observe wildlife such as Himalayan birds and small mammals. This day ensures safety for the upcoming high-altitude pass.
Today is the highlight of the trek. You will start early to cross Pangsang La Pass, the highest point of the Ruby Valley Trek. From the pass, enjoy sweeping views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang, and distant Manaslu ranges. After taking photos and soaking in the scenery, you descend toward Tipling village. Tipling offers an authentic experience of Gurung and Ghale communities with traditional stone houses and warm hospitality.
The trail gradually descends through terraced fields, forests, and local hamlets. Chalise village is a culturally rich Tamang settlement, where trekkers can interact with locals, learn about traditional farming practices, and enjoy homemade meals. The descent offers diverse scenery, from high alpine landscapes to subtropical valleys.
Today, the trail continues descending along streams, forested paths, and farmland trails until reaching Borong village. The village is peaceful, and the surroundings are filled with greenery and small rural settlements. It’s an ideal place to relax and reflect on the trek so far while enjoying local hospitality.
