Overview

The Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek is one of Nepal’s most spectacular high-altitude treks, combining challenging passes, pristine landscapes, and rich cultural experiences. Spanning 20 days, this trek circumnavigates the majestic Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), passing through hidden valleys, glaciers, alpine meadows, and traditional villages that have retained centuries-old Tibetan and Gurung culture. Trekkers experience both the thrill of high Himalayan adventure and the serenity of remote settlements.

The trek begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara, followed by a drive to Babiya Chaur. From there, the journey ascends gradually through the Kali Gandaki valley, passing settlements such as Dharapani, Muri Village, and Dhoban. These early sections allow trekkers to acclimatize while enjoying terraced farmlands, forested trails, and river crossings.

The high-altitude portion of the trek includes Italy Camp, Glacier Camp, and Dhaulagiri Base Camp (4,800 m), offering dramatic views of glaciers, moraine landscapes, and snow-capped peaks. One of the trek’s highlights is crossing the French Pass and descending into the Hidden Valley, an isolated area surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks. Another challenging section includes Dhampus Pass, which leads down to Yakharka, before gradually descending toward Marpha Village.

Marpha Village (2,700 m) is a highlight for cultural and leisure experiences. Famous for its apple orchards, traditional stone houses, and scenic location in the Kali Gandaki valley, Marpha provides trekkers a perfect spot to rest, explore local monasteries, interact with villagers, and experience authentic Himalayan culture. This stop also allows for relaxation after the strenuous high-altitude segments of the trek.

The trek concludes with a descent to Pokhara and a flight back to Kathmandu. Along the journey, trekkers enjoy tea house accommodations, locally prepared meals, and the support of experienced guides from Multipeak Adventure. This 20-day expedition is ideal for adventurous trekkers seeking a combination of challenging passes, pristine landscapes, and cultural immersion, creating memories of one of Nepal’s most remote and beautiful Himalayan regions.
